Teenage Parenting program introduces and reinforces the importance of reading daily to your baby beginning at birth.
New books are distributed three times during the year and include informative presentations.
This program also distributes close to 3,000 books annually and coordinates presentations to Head Start Programs in Tulare County.
Our objective is to tell new and expectant parents how important it is to read to their babies.
By giving out over 1,000 Books for Babies packets each year, we give parents the tools to begin reading to their babies with a board book, a song book, and a set of developmental cards.
The contents of the Books for Babies packets are purchased with donations to Read For Life.
Our program's focus is on young children and giving them books they can call their own.
We distribute almost 20,000 books a year to young children who have a limited access to books within their household.
Books are given to children through food pantries, homeless centers, crisis shelters, medical clinics, and various other locations.
The hands-on Preschool Program provides books and informative/instructive parent presentations to underserved Home Based, Migrant Education, and several local preschool programs.
Objectives are achieved by an annual distribution of 1,300 new age-appropriate books to at-risk schools to promote a consistent daily parent/child reading environment in the home.
